“Always remember: Grace. Decorum. Poise. Even around corpses.”
So declares the indomitable Lady Elizabeth Margaret Anne Prudence Temperance Charity Bradfordshire-Pierce during a dramatic and deadly Victorian garden party in Master Mystery Productions’ eighth show, The Last Garden Party, premiering July 2016!
England at the turn of the twentieth century was a period of peace, prosperity, and cloying politeness. In the year 1900, as Victoria’s record-shattering reign eased toward its end, young second wife of “the only wealthy peer left in England,” Phoebe Walliscroft, throws a garden party at their country estate to celebrate midsummer while her husband is abroad. But her party is not going according to plan. First, the village peerage doesn’t respect her since she’s “just an American.” Second, the festivities are dominated by Phoebe’s new and eccentric in-laws. Third, there’s a skeleton under the croquet set…just as they were about play a game! As her troublesome in-laws-turned-suspects trade witticisms, insults, and suspicions, Phoebe and the rest of her guests attempt to piece together this puzzling problem…before this garden party becomes their last.
The Last Garden Party reunites Master Mystery Productions with My Enchanted Cottage and Tea Room, who together brought the world the break-out, sold-out spring 2015 sensation of Goodbye Hollywood. This brand-new interactive murder mystery tea will take guests to the closing years of Queen Victoria’s reign and the charming private garden of an English countryside estate. My Enchanted Cottage is renovating a new outdoor dining space called The Enchanted Garden and The Last Garden Party will be the inaugural event to open the space to the public. It’s an exciting opportunity for both of us to bring this enchanted space…and devious story…to life!
The Last Garden Party will be a charming garden tea party, complete with tasty treats, featuring a cast of eccentric–and suspicious–lords and ladies who will tickle your funny bone with outrageous lines (“Who put tea in my whiskey?!”) and pique your curiosity with their less-than-formal behavior. All with an enticing mystery to solve. Who is the body in the croquet lawn? What does it have to do with a missing guest from a previous soiree? What other scandals haunt the Walliscroft estate? Who can be trusted? Who hides a murderous grin under a mask of Victorian politeness?
It’s all there for you to discover at The Last Garden Party.
